Making the monarch

This was my first trip to the Woodcraft store to select the wood veneers I used to make the marquetry panels on the Monarch basket.

Here I have taped the picture to the wood veneers I will make the panels from.  

Here I’m getting an idea of which wood veneers I will use for each piece that will make up the marquetry panels.

I will need a total of 10 large panels each having an identical back and front.  

In this picture I’m using a craft knife to gently score the design onto the frame piece of wood veneer.
